Book Buddies

Earlier this month, Nate's big brother, Jericho, bought a coupon in his 5th Grade class to come and read to his little brother.  How awesome! The class loved the fun book Jericho picked. He did a SUPER job reading too! Thank You!

Fire Safety

Members of our local volunteer fire department stopped by Marshall on Friday, October 9, 2015 to remind 1st and 2nd Graders the importance of knowing what to do when a fire might unexpectedly start! We demonstrated what to do if we are sleeping when the fire alarm goes off. We learned just how difficult it is to see in a room full of smoke. We also got a first hand view of how the county and city fire trucks work! Thank you firefighters!!!!

Doubles Fun!

We have been reviewing addition strategies in math this week. Today, we played a FUN game called Doubles Bump. Each player takes a turn rolling the die. The player doubles the number on the die and then places a disk on that number on the game board. If another player has a disc on the board that player can BUMP their opponent off. But if a player has two tokens on a number, then he/she has won that number. The winner is the player that has won the most numbers. We had a blast!

Scribble Spelling

We even learn by scribbling in 2C! Students practice their spelling words using a FUN activity called scribble spelling. The trick is to remember to make the scribble "loops" big enough for many words to be written in!

The Golden Rule

Mrs. Countryman, the Guidance Counselor, visited with us last week and reminded us the importance of respect. We can show respect not only by what we SAY, but also by what we DO.

Welcome to Second Grade!!

What a bunch of SUPER 2nd Graders!
