2nd Graders are still learning HOW to read, so it's important to do as much word work as possible to help kids understand the relationship between letters and their sounds. This week, we had LOTS of fun during our Phonics and Spelling time!

"Team Formations" Teams had to listen to me say a word and then decide what either the: beginning, middle, or ending sound was. Once they put their "heads together" and decided, they then had to form the consonant that made that sound with their bodies! The kiddos had so much fun! |

We introduced "Sneaky e" this week during our Reading Phonics time. We learned this cute song to help us remember "Sneaky e"s job. Finally, we practiced turning short vowels long with our magic "e" wands during Quiz, Quiz, Trade. |

Our weekly Spelling words matched the phonics skill of "Sneaky e". On Monday, we practiced writing our words ON OUR DESKS! The kids couldn't believe they were allowed to write on the desks. Later in the week, we had fun with "Scribble Spelling." |
